The Bee and Human international Conference 2025
The 2025 Bee and Human international conference was held from February 28 to March 2, 2025 in Moscow. Ethiopia through Ethiopian Apiculture Development Association (EADA) communication had a chance to participate in this outstanding conference with full support of Russian UNION OF BEEKEEPERS AND BEEKEEPING ORGANIZATIONS OF THE COUNTRY«BEEKEEPINGM. Moscow provided a unique platform for showcasing global research and fostering international collaboration. There were more than 600 participants from all provinces of the Russian Federation: Beekeepers, Beekeeping technology developers, Bee product processors, Agricultural universities, Professors, Honeybee researchers, Beekeeping Association Chair persons of 31 countries including Russian Federation, participants from 30 friendly countries.
Tessema Aynalem (PhD), briefly promoted Ethiopian Apiculture potentials, opportunities and challenges. He briefed the Ethiopian Beekeeping Development Association (EADA) as newly established Association and needs collaborative work with all interested international communities and organizations. He also introduced Bahir Dar University as the only University teaching Apiculture as a Sole degree at MSc and PhD level curriculums in Africa. He presented his research output entitled as “Enhancing Honey Quality, Colony and Beekeepers’ Safety through the use of modified red-light source during colony inspection in the dark”. This was also highly promoted via Russian National Television broadcasting coverage and via other social media.
Abera Belay (PhD), Presented his very interesting research finding titled as “Therapeutic potential of Ethiopian Monofloral Honeys: antioxidant properties, apoptotic effects on HepG2 cells, and cross over clinical trial on postprandial Glycemia”. On his way, Dr Abera explained that he is open to all types of collaboration aimed at unlocking the full potential of Ethiopian rich bee resources, including honey, beeswax, propolis, pollen, royal jelly, and bee venom. The EADA is grateful to the Union of Beekeepers and Beekeeping Organizations for giving us such a valuable chance and memorable welcoming. Our relation and collaboration will continue for the benefits of common interest.
